Dr. Jason Beghtol named Humanities Teacher of the Year, to present musical premiere

The Cultural Arts Committee has named Dr. Jason Beghtol as this year’s Humanities Teacher of the Year, according to a committee announcement.

He is scheduled to give a presentation titled “Preserving our Musical Moment: New Works and New Possibilities for the Bass Trombone” on Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. in Hines Auditorium.

The event will feature the world premiere of “Ambush of the Night Watch,” composed by Derek Taylor. A reception will follow the performance, organizers said.

Details about the event were provided by the committee, which recognized Beghtol for his contributions to arts education and his innovative work in music.
