Mississippi State first lady credits community college experience for White House role

Rhonda Keenum, Mississippi State University’s first lady, told Phi Theta Kappa students that her membership at Northeast Mississippi Community College helped lead her to serve as a senior White House staff member during the George W. Bush administration, Mississippi State University said.

Mississippi State said Keenum addressed 250 community college students and their advisors on the university campus during the Phi Theta Kappa regional conference.

Students at the conference came from two-year colleges in Mississippi and Louisiana, Mississippi State said.

MSU said Keenum discussed how her education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State shaped her career and prepared her for work in the White House.

Mississippi State said conference organizers praised Northeast alumni for inspiring the next generation of community college students.
