Northeast Mississippi Community College Fine Arts Students Share Creative Experiences

Jamyla Elliott of Forest, Mississippi, shared her experience as a Fine Arts major at Northeast Mississippi Community College. She said students engage in hands-on projects that allow them to explore their creativity.

In her photography class, Elliott learned to take and develop her own photos. She also created original paintings and built her own sketchbook as part of her drawing coursework.

Elliott emphasized that each project helps students test new ideas, develop their styles, and see their work come to life from start to finish. Northeast’s Fine Arts program focuses on creating art, not just learning about it, she said.

The college’s approach encourages students to actively produce art throughout their studies, according to Elliott. Her post aims to showcase the vibrant, hands-on environment at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
