Bentonville man charged in attempted Tupelo ATM break-in
Edwin Abraham Cardenas Figuera, 30, of Bentonville, Arkansas, was arrested April 6 and charged with attempted grand larceny after an alleged attempt to break into an ATM in Tupelo, the Tupelo Police Department said.
The attempted break-in at Farmers & Merchants Bank at 1803 W. Main Street was reported March 16, according to the department. Tupelo detectives worked with law enforcement in Pelham, Alabama; Dallas, Texas; the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations; Booneville and Pontotoc, Mississippi; Bentonville, Arkansas; and the St. Francis County, Arkansas, sheriff’s department to identify multiple suspects, police said.
Bentonville police arrested Cardenas Figuera on April 6, and he was extradited to Tupelo, the Tupelo Police Department said. He faces an attempted grand larceny charge in Tupelo.
On April 10, Cardenas Figuera made his initial appearance in Tupelo Municipal Court, where Judge Jay Weir denied bond, the department said.
