State Auditor Shad White said his office will audit small state agencies, boards and commissions to identify wasteful spending and legal noncompliance. The effort follows a review of larger agencies called Project Momentum.

Tupelo police say a man was arrested after attempting to cash a fraudulent check at a downtown bank and allegedly cashing two other forged checks at separate branches.

Terry W. Richey II, 39, of Tupelo was arrested May 13 and charged with aggravated domestic violence after officers investigated a reported April assault, Tupelo police said. He was ordered held on a $25,000 bond, court records show.
