Blue Mountain Continues Recovery After Winter Storm
Roadways, sidewalks and parking lots in Blue Mountain are gradually improving as the ice melts, though many areas remain heavily covered, according to local authorities.
The town now has water service, as does a small section of the campus known as Mountain Village. However, a frozen pipe or major leak has yet to be located, leaving the rest of the campus without water, said a representative of the Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief team.
The relief team is organizing a crew to remove dangerous limbs and debris from downed trees. The team expects to begin work as early as tomorrow. Additionally, officials have been in contact with agencies such as MEMA and FEMA, as well as state legislators and congressional representatives, including Congressman Kelly and Senators Wicker and Hyde-Smith.
By noon tomorrow, officials plan to release a detailed recovery plan for next week. Much of the effort hinges on identifying and repairing the water source issue, according to authorities.
Officials are grateful for the community’s continued prayers and patience as recovery efforts proceed, said Barbara C. McMillin, the town’s president.
