Columbus AFB unit clears litter from George “Happy” Irby Parkway, MDOT says
The 14th Mission Support Group at Columbus Air Force Base removed 13 bags of trash, three tires and one metal sign from a 1.89-mile stretch of the George “Happy” Irby Memorial Parkway, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.
MDOT said the cleanup took place between U.S. Highway 45 and the base entrance gate.
In a social media post last month, the department credited the service members with the cleanup and highlighted their role in keeping Mississippi beautiful, MDOT said.
MDOT thanked the volunteers and described them as community partners in the post.
