Lane Closures on I-20 and U.S. 49 in Mississippi Due to Bridge Damage

The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced multiple lane closures in Rankin County due to a bridge strike. The right lane of the U.S. 49 north flyover ramp to I-20 westbound is closed after being struck earlier today, MDOT said.

Crews are assessing the damage and preparing for a temporary repair. Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays on U.S. 49 north. MDOT will notify the public of any further lane closures as the situation develops.

Additionally, the right two eastbound lanes of I-20 between U.S. 49 South Exit 47A and Mississippi 468 East/ Pearson Road Exit 48 are closed until approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday for bridge inspection and repair. The southbound entrance ramp from U.S. 49 to I-20 eastbound is also closed until the same time for similar reasons, according to MDOT.

Motorists are urged to plan for delays and check for updates. More information is available on MDOT’s traffic website.
