Lt. Stewart was stationed at Mississippi Highway 322 at the Coahoma-Quitman County line east of Clarksdale, according to a social media update.
He noted that there is still a significant amount of ice and snow on the ground. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing again tonight.
Officials advise drivers to be cautious while traveling in the area. The ongoing winter weather poses hazards on local roads, they said.
