Man sentenced to 25 years for second-degree murder in Tupelo
TUPELO, Miss. — A man convicted of murder in the second degree was sentenced to 25 years in prison on February 12, 2026, in Tupelo.
Jaedin Jacques Hatchett pleaded guilty to the charge stemming from the March 5, 2023, killing of Montavious Jemar Clifton. Circuit Court Judge John R. White sentenced Hatchett to the term, which will be served without the possibility of parole or early release. A total of 15 years of the sentence were suspended.
Upon release, Hatchett will be required to serve five years of post-release supervision. The case was investigated by the Tupelo Police Department, and the prosecution was handled by Sadie Gardner, Assistant District Attorney. Jason D. Herring is the district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, according to the statement.
