MDOT announces upgrades to transportation projects in southwest Mississippi

Several transportation projects in southwest Mississippi are progressing, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation. Commissioner Charles Busby of the Southern Transportation District highlighted ongoing investments in the region’s infrastructure.

“Southwest Mississippi is seeing a significant amount of investment in transportation infrastructure right now,” Busby said. “From major highway improvements to safety upgrades, these projects are designed to make travel safer and more reliable for the people who depend on these roads every day.”

The projects are part of MDOT’s efforts to enhance transportation in District 7, which covers Adams, Amite, Covington, Franklin, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pike, Simpson, Smith, Walthall, and Wilkinson counties. MDOT plans to continue advancing additional projects across the region, Busby added.
