Will Priest, resident engineer at the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Whitfield Project Office, explained his job to a 5-year-old as part of Engineers Week 2026, the agency said.
In a post marking the observance, MDOT said Priest described his work as connecting Mississippi with “safe roads, strong bridges, and a pretty cool team.”
The department said the post invited others to try describing their jobs to a 5-year-old and to share responses in the comments as part of an outreach effort.
MDOT said the activity was part of its Engineers Week programming to highlight careers in STEM and engineering.
