District 7 Construction Engineer Jordan Whittington told the Michigan Department of Transportation during Engineers Week 2026 that refereeing a college football game and his engineering work are surprisingly similar.
Whittington said the comparison comes from his experience on the field and on construction projects. He also said he serves as a college football referee.
The Michigan Department of Transportation highlighted Whittington’s comments as part of its Engineers Week 2026 activities.
MDOT said the department used the spotlight on Whittington to showcase the varied backgrounds and interests of its engineers during Engineers Week.
