MDOT: Final beams set on U.S. 98 bridge over Homochitto River

Crews have set the final beams and girders on the replacement bridge over the Homochitto River along U.S. 98 in Franklin County, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.

The department said the most recent work involved placing the final beams and girders before pouring the new concrete deck.

The project replaces an old truss bridge on U.S. 98, the department said, and officials described the work as bringing the bridge one step closer to completion.

MDOT said the project remains on track for completion this year and that a full update is available in the agency’s District 7 release.
