Myrtle the Turtle, the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s litter-prevention mascot, met television personality Si Robertson at the Mississippi Ag and Outdoor Expo in February, the department said.
MDOT said Myrtle regularly visits schools across the state to speak to children about litter prevention. The department added that she also attends public events to promote a clean and healthy environment for Mississippi.
At the expo, MDOT said Myrtle spoke with Robertson about her mission to Keep Mississippi Beautiful and her work with the MDOT Litter Prevention Team.
MDOT posted photos of the encounter and said the mascot will continue outreach efforts at schools and community events across the state.
