MDOT urges drivers to slow down in playful tribute to Super Mario

The Michigan Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to slow down with a playful nod to the Super Mario video game franchise.

The agency posted a message referencing the popular game, urging motorists to avoid speeding, which it likened to a one-way ticket to “Game Over.” MDOT emphasized that unlike in the game, there are no respawns in real life.

The message encourages drivers to stay safe by slowing down, using references to characters and elements from the game, such as Bowser and Princess Peach. MDOT hopes the lighthearted approach will remind drivers to prioritize safety on the roads.

The campaign includes hashtags like #MShwys, #SuperMarioGalaxy, and #SlowDown to promote awareness and engagement. The department aims to combine nostalgia with a serious message about traffic safety.
