Mississippi braces for winter storm with freezing rain and cold temperatures

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather alert for Mississippi, forecasting a major storm from Friday through Sunday. Most of the state faces a risk of freezing rain, sleet, or snow, prompting residents to prepare accordingly, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Dangerously cold temperatures are also expected to arrive Friday night and persist into early next week. Authorities advise residents to check local forecasts and stay alert for updates as conditions evolve.

Officials recommend preparing homes and checking on family members to ensure safety during the severe weather. The agency emphasized the importance of staying informed through official alerts and weather reports.
