Mississippi Department of Transportation marks 110th anniversary

The Mississippi Department of Transportation said it is celebrating its 110th anniversary, marking more than a century of work on the state’s road network, the agency said in a social media post.

MDOT said the agency has spent the past 110 years laying the groundwork for safer travel and stronger connections across Mississippi. The post described the work as “laying the groundwork (quite literally!)” for improved safety and connectivity.

The department referenced its early projects in the state, saying, “From that first mile we paved to the thousands traveled today,” the agency has continued to expand and maintain roadways, according to the post.

MDOT said it considers it a privilege to serve the state and its residents and that it looks forward to future projects and continued maintenance of Mississippi roads, the post added.
