Mississippi Department of Transportation crews across the state are preparing for winter weather expected to begin Friday, Jan. 23, according to MDOT officials.
The department is closely monitoring weather forecasts and stockpiling supplies such as sand, salt, and other materials. Crews are also filling trucks with salt brine to pretreat roads ahead of Winter Storm Fern.
MDOT advised drivers to stay weather-aware and check the MDOT Traffic app or MDOTtraffic.com for current road conditions before heading out. The department emphasized its commitment to maintaining safety during winter weather events.
