Mississippi DOT says progress on central Mississippi road and bridge projects; chairman urges caution
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said significant progress is being made on road and bridge projects across central Mississippi, according to a department post. Mississippi Transportation Commission Chairman Willie Simmons urged drivers to be cautious around work zones.
“As we enter the spring maintenance and construction season, please be extra vigilant driving in and around these work zones,” Simmons said. “Slow down, eliminate cell phones and other distractions and be alert for roadside crews and signs.”
The department said the update covers projects in MDOT’s District 5, which includes Hinds, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Madison, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Rankin and Scott counties.
MDOT said more information on where crews are working in District 5 is available in the department’s post and linked materials. The department did not provide additional project details in the announcement.
