Mississippi DOT uses ‘Hoist the Cone’ message, urges drivers to slow in work zones
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said drivers should slow down when they see orange cones on state roadways.
In a social media post, the department used the Pittsburgh Pirates and Mississippi natives Jake Mangum and Konnor Griffin to promote the message, saying that when good things happen for them, they “Hoist the Cone.”
MDOT said orange cones mean work is in progress for Mississippi and that the cones are a signal to motorists to take care in work zones.
The post urged drivers to slow down so work zone teams can make it home safe and included the hashtags #MShwys and #RaiseIt.
