Mississippi DOT warns drowsy driving is deadly, cites nearly 40% who nod off monthly
The Mississippi Department of Transportation warned in a social media post that drowsy driving can be deadly, saying nearly 40% of adults report falling asleep unintentionally at least once a month.
The agency said driving requires alertness and that there is no substitute for quality sleep when someone has a sleep deficit.
The post directed readers to the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Awareness Week resources at thensf.org/sleep-awareness-week for tips on how to be their “Best Slept Self,” the department said.
The department included safety reminders and campaign tags such as #SleepAwarenessWeek and #DriveAlert in the post.
