Mississippi Earmarks $18 Million for Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund
Senate Bill 2049 of the 2025 legislative session earmarks $18 million in capital expense funds for the Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund, the bill says.
The fund — created by the Mississippi Legislature during the 2023 regular session — was established to recognize the importance of multi-modal infrastructure to the state’s economy, jobs and the transportation of goods and services, the Legislature said.
The law directs the fund to increase capacity for the movement of freight and to increase economic activity at airports, ports and railroads located in Mississippi, the Legislature said.
The $18 million comes from capital expense funds received by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), according to Senate Bill 2049, which continues the program begun in 2023.
