National Weather Service Memphis Warns of Dangerous Flash Flooding

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, issued a warning today about the dangers of flash flooding during #MSSWPW2026.

The agency emphasized that when water flows over a roadway, motorists may not know how deep it is. Just six inches of fast-moving water can knock over and carry away an adult, the NWS said.

Officials urged residents to exercise caution and avoid driving through flooded areas. They advised that even shallow water can pose serious risks during heavy rainfall events.

The warning comes as part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about flash flood dangers and promote safety during severe weather conditions.
