National Weather Service warns of dangers of fast-moving water

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, issued a warning about the dangers of fast-moving water during severe weather events.

According to officials, just 6 inches of moving water can knock over an adult and carry them away. A foot of water can move small cars off the road, posing serious risks.

The agency advises residents to heed the warning: “Turn Around Don’t Drown.” Authorities urge people to avoid driving through flooded areas to prevent accidents and injuries.

This message is part of Tennessee’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of staying safe during storms and floods.
