National Weather Service warns of low chance for severe storms April 2

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said a cold front could bring a low, conditional chance of severe weather on April 2, mainly north of Interstate 40.

The office said the primary threat, if storms materialize, would be damaging winds. Secondary threats include a tornado or two and large hail.

The agency also warned that surface winds not associated with thunderstorms could be gusty, especially in the Missouri Bootheel and northeast Arkansas.

The Memphis office said the risk would be greatest during the afternoon into the early evening and urged residents to stay weather aware.
