NWS in Jackson upgrades parts of state to Slight Risk for severe storms Saturday

The National Weather Service in Jackson upgraded parts of the state to a Slight Risk for severe storms Saturday, March 7, 2026, the agency said.

The threat is expected to shift from north to south through the day and into the evening, NWS Jackson said.

The agency said residents could see damaging winds and quarter-size hail. NWS Jackson added that a tornado could not be ruled out.

NWS Jackson urged residents to monitor local meteorologists and forecasts for the latest updates and safety information.
