NWS Memphis urges Spring Breakers to learn beach warning flags

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee urged beachgoers to learn standardized beach warning flags as part of Rip Current Awareness Week, the agency said in a social media post.

“If you’re going to the beach for Spring Break, familiarize yourself with the standardized beach warning flags,” the post said, noting there are numerous hazards at the beach and that understanding the warnings can save your life.

The post included a link to the agency’s beach safety page at weather.gov/beach for more information, the National Weather Service said.

The agency used the hashtag #RipCurrentAwarenessWeek in the post, the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee said.
