NWS Memphis Urges Tennesseans to Prepare for Severe Thunderstorms

The National Weather Service office in Memphis urged Tennesseans to prepare for severe thunderstorms as part of Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week, the office said in a social media post.

The office warned that thunderstorms can quickly turn clear skies dark and advised residents to have a way to receive weather alerts on their phones, the post said.

The office also urged people to go inside immediately when skies turn threatening and provided a link to safety guidance at weather.gov/safety/thunderstorm, the post said.

The social media message included hashtags promoting the awareness week, the office added.
