NWS Memphis urges travelers, campers to enable phone alerts, avoid floodwaters

The National Weather Service in Memphis urged people traveling or camping to prepare for flash flooding and to enable Wireless Emergency Alerts on their phones, the office said.

The office said if flooding occurs while people are outdoors they should immediately move to higher ground.

It warned people to never enter flood waters in a vehicle or on foot, the office said.

The message was posted with the hashtag #MOSWPW2026, the office said.
