NWS Memphis Warns Against Entering Flood Waters, Shares Safety Tips
The National Weather Service office in Memphis, Tennessee warned residents Thursday not to enter flood waters and posted safety tips for flash flooding.
The office said 6 inches of moving water can knock over an adult and 12 inches can carry away a small car.
The post included guidance on what to do during and after a flash flooding event and emphasized never entering flood waters, according to the agency.
The social media post included photos and the hashtag #ARSWAW2026, the office said.
