NWS Memphis Warns of Critical Fire Weather Sunday; Burn Bans in Effect

The National Weather Service in Memphis warned Saturday that gusty winds Sunday could produce critical fire weather conditions and urged residents to avoid burning, the agency said.

The office said there is a 40% to 69% chance of critical fire weather conditions Sunday. It said fires could quickly get out of control in those conditions.

Numerous counties across the Mid-South remain under burn bans, the NWS said. The agency provided links to county-specific burn information and restrictions.

The National Weather Service advised residents to follow local burn bans and to consult county resources for the latest restrictions and guidance.
