NWS Memphis warns tornadoes can form in minutes

The National Weather Service in Memphis urged residents to be prepared, saying tornadoes can form in minutes, day or night, in a social media post.

The agency said people should have a way to receive weather alerts at any time of day.

“If you receive a Tornado Warning, get to shelter immediately,” the agency said.

The National Weather Service directed readers to weather.gov/safety/tornado for safety guidance.
