NWS: Severe storms may reach Memphis Wednesday; strong tornado possible
The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee said little has changed in Wednesday’s severe weather outlook other than timing. The agency said a few storms could arrive in the predawn hours in northeast Arkansas, with the main line expected to reach the Memphis metro in the mid- to late-morning.
The NWS said storms will take longer to exit north Mississippi, where afternoon conditions are more favorable for a few tornadoes. The agency attributed the elevated tornado risk to the slower storm progression across the region.
The National Weather Service said a strong EF-2 or greater tornado could not be ruled out. The agency urged people to monitor updates as the situation evolves.
