NWS Warns of Enhanced Severe Weather Risk in Mississippi Sunday

The National Weather Service forecast an enhanced risk of severe weather for Mississippi on the evening of Sunday, March 15, 2026, with the greatest threat in the north and central parts of the state, the agency said.

The agency said tornadoes were possible, damaging winds could reach 70 mph and severe thunderstorms were expected across the state.

The National Weather Service urged residents to stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive alerts and know their safe place.

Officials encouraged Mississippians to monitor local forecasts and follow guidance from the National Weather Service as the system approaches, the agency said.
