The Tupelo Police Department said one adult was shot in the 400 block of North Green Street and was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
The department said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no active threat to the public.
The shooting is under investigation, the department said.
North Green Street was temporarily shut down as detectives processed the scene, and police asked the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes, the department said.
