Ping-pong-ball-size hail possible in north Mississippi, forecasters say
As of 3:30 p.m., local forecasters reported a few routine thunderstorms over north Mississippi, they said.
Forecasters said a stationary front is expected to move southeastward over the next several hours. They warned a localized large-hail threat could develop just south of the front, with hail up to the size of a ping-pong ball.
The threat was described as localized and tied to the position of the front, forecasters said. They advised residents in the area to monitor updates from their local weather sources.
