The American Red Cross will open a warming shelter tonight at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ripley, according to the organization. The shelter is open to everyone, with no need to call ahead or show identification.
Pets are allowed in crates, and the shelter will provide blankets, cots, food, water, and snacks. Visitors are encouraged to bring personal comfort items such as bedding, pillows, or sleeping bags, the Red Cross said.
The organization is also seeking volunteers to staff the shelter. A volunteer sign-up link will be shared for those interested in helping, according to the Red Cross.
