State financial group cites Mississippi auditor for finding more than $400 million in waste
JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi State Auditor Shad White was cited by the State Financial Officers Foundation for identifying more than $400 million in waste across state government, the foundation said in its inaugural 2025 Oversight Report.
“It’s an honor to be named among the State Auditors fighting the rampant fraud, waste, and abuse in government,” White said. “From Vice President Vance’s leadership on the anti-fraud task force to state-level officers, fraud now has nowhere to hide.”
The SFOF report singled out White’s “MOGE” report, describing it as a compilation of audits that showed more than $400 million in government waste identified by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor. The report also highlighted White’s efforts at identifying nonprofits it said were wasting taxpayer money, the oversight report said.
The 2025 Oversight Report highlights accomplishments from 40 financial officers in 28 states who oversee more than $3 trillion in state funds, the foundation said. The foundation said the full report is available online.
