Suspect Arrested in Multi-Jurisdiction Vehicle Burglary Case in Tupelo

Authorities in Tupelo, Mississippi, announced the arrest of a suspect linked to a months-long investigation into vehicle burglaries affecting the city, Lee County, and surrounding jurisdictions.

The Tupelo Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating reports of burglarized vehicles since November. Most of the targeted vehicles were late-model pickup trucks, with some left unlocked and others broken into through window smashing. Items stolen include firearms, firearm accessories, and cash, according to police.

On Jan. 13, law enforcement officers served a search and arrest warrant at an apartment on McCullough Boulevard. Camryn R. Hodges, 23, of Prairie, was taken into custody. He faces seven counts of vehicle burglary and one count of unlawful possession of an explosive device. The explosive charge relates to a military-grade smoke device found during the search.

Hodges was ordered held without bond on Jan. 15 by Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Sumner. Authorities said the investigation involved license plate reader data, surveillance videos from local businesses and residences, and ongoing efforts to identify suspects.

Police continue to encourage the public to register and integrate security cameras to assist in future investigations. The case remains active, and additional charges may be filed locally and in surrounding areas. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further action.
