Juan Jose Cabral, 34, of Tupelo was arrested Feb. 24 and charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of rape, the Tupelo Police Department said.
Police said officers responded Feb. 18 to 830 South Gloster Street — the North Mississippi Medical Center — after a report of a previous sexual assault at a residence in Tupelo. The department said the victim provided information that led investigators to a suspect.
Tupelo Municipal Court records show Judge Jay Weir ordered Cabral held on a $40,000 bond on Feb. 27.
The Tupelo Police Department said the charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury.
