Tupelo man receives 20-year sentence for oxycodone possession

TUPELO, Miss. — A Tupelo man received a 20-year prison sentence on Wednesday for possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, according to court documents.

Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims handed down the sentence, which included an additional 10-year suspended sentence. Denman also received a 10-year suspended sentence for a felony fleeing charge.

Denman is required to serve five years of post-release supervision after completing his prison term, authorities said. The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the Tupelo Police Department, led the investigation that resulted in the sentencing.

The District Attorney’s Office commended the NMNU for its efforts to combat drug trafficking in the community. Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.

Jason D. Herring, District Attorney for the First Circuit Court District, announced the sentence.
