The Tupelo Police Department said it observed National School Resource Officer Day this past weekend and took time to recognize its school resource officers.
The department said the officers play an important role in keeping schools safe, building relationships with students and supporting staff.
The department thanked each of its school resource officers for their continued service and commitment to the community, according to a statement.
The department said the observance was an opportunity to acknowledge the daily work SROs perform in Tupelo schools.
