U.S. 90 traffic shifted, access restricted in Gulfport for triathlon, MDOT says

The Mississippi Department of Transportation said it will place U.S. 90 traffic into a head-to-head configuration and restrict access to 20th Avenue this weekend in Gulfport to accommodate the CLASH Endurance Coastal Mississippi Triathlon.

MDOT said the configuration and restrictions will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, between U.S. 49 and Markham Drive. The agency said the measures will also be in place from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29, between U.S. 49 and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

MDOT said crossovers on U.S. 90 will be closed where traffic is placed head-to-head and that law enforcement will direct traffic at major intersections. The department advised motorists to detour via Interstate 10.

MDOT posted maps showing the affected areas on its traffic site and said the changes are in coordination with the City of Gulfport Mayor’s Office. MDOT provided map links: https://www.mdottraffic.com/?a=560287 and https://www.mdottraffic.com/?a=560288, and additional information at https://bit.ly/4bJnfrX.
