Winter Storm Prompts Widespread Alerts in the Mid-South

Confidence is increasing that a winter storm will affect the Mid-South from Friday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. The exact amounts of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will depend on the storm’s upper-low placement, the agency said.

Forecasters emphasized that bitter cold temperatures are certain, with sub-freezing conditions expected to persist for more than 72 hours. Residents are advised to prepare for potential travel delays, widespread power outages, and prolonged cold.

The Weather Service urged people to stay updated on forecasts and alerts as more details about the storm’s impact become available.
