Be On the Lookout for Two Inmates that Escaped Claiborne County Detention Center

According to Claiborne County Sheriffs Department, an update on the escaped inmate Dezarrious Johnson reveals he has a noticeable limp and a right leg injury sustained during the escape, as depicted in the image on the right.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of July 5, 2024, when two inmates broke free from the Claiborne County Detention Center around 2:20 AM. Identified as Tyrekennel Collins, a 24-year-old black male from Copiah County, and Dezarrious Johnson, an 18-year-old male originally from the Natchez area and held for Jefferson County, these individuals are considered dangerous.

Law enforcement officials have issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise caution. They emphasize the urgency of the situation and encourage anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either Collins or Johnson to contact the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department promptly.

“The safety of the public remains our top priority,” stated a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, emphasizing the community’s role in aiding law enforcement efforts.
