Colom says outstanding Mississippi Senate ballots will go his way; urges affidavit voters to show ID by Nov. 10, 2026
The Associated Press has not called the U.S. Senate race between Democrat Scott Colom and Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. Colom said Wednesday that outstanding ballots will go his way.
Colom said his campaign has volunteers in every county to monitor vote certification and to help voters who cast affidavit ballots, which he said often involve voters who did not satisfy voter ID requirements.
He said those voters have until Nov. 10, 2026, to visit local elections offices and present valid ID to have their ballots counted.
In the 2022 midterms, Mississippi had 7,612 affidavit ballots cast; 5,710 were counted, the AP reported.
Colom asked his team to help any provisional ballot voter who needs assistance. “We will protect the integrity of this election,” he said.
