Firehawk Aerospace to open manufacturing facility in Crawford, Mississippi

Firehawk Aerospace is establishing manufacturing operations in Crawford, Mississippi, the Mississippi Development Authority announced Wednesday. The defense technology company will repurpose a 636-acre facility to support its expanded production and serve as a rocket system integration site.

Will Edwards, founder and CEO of Firehawk, cited Mississippi’s pro-industry leadership, talented workforce, and commitment to advanced manufacturing as reasons for choosing the state. He said the new facility will help modernize and scale rocket production for U.S. defense needs and will create high-tech jobs in the region.

The project represents a $16.5 million investment and is expected to create 100 jobs. Firehawk is actively recruiting for roles to support its manufacturing operations, with operations anticipated to begin soon, according to the company.

Governor Tate Reeves praised the company’s decision to invest in Mississippi. Reeves said the state’s streamlined processes and infrastructure make it an ideal location for innovative aerospace companies. Lowndes County and the Golden Triangle are supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program, with additional assistance from local officials.

Firehawk Aerospace specializes in producing munitions, rockets, and motors powered by proprietary 3D-printed propellant, which aims to enable faster, safer, and more cost-efficient production, the MDA said.
