Ingomar jogger killed, son injured after being struck on county road
An Ingomar man was killed and his 13-year-old son was injured Thursday night, February 12, after the two were struck by a pickup truck while jogging along County Road 101, also known as Ingomar Road, according to Jimmy Edwards.
Local authorities identified the victim as Gabriel Paul Grissett, 47. Grissett and his son were hit around 8:45 p.m. by a westbound pickup driven by a juvenile as the pair also traveled westbound.
The crash happened near Ingomar Attendance Center. Authorities noted that debris piles from the recent ice storm lined the roadside and may have contributed to the runners being farther into the roadway than usual while navigating around the debris.
Grissett was pronounced dead at the scene. His son suffered minor injuries, was treated, and later released.
