Teenager Struck by Train in New Albany
A tragic incident occurred in New Albany when a train fatally collided with a teenage pedestrian.
The victim has been identified as James Ward, a 19-year-old resident of Potts Camp, as confirmed by New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson.
The unfortunate event took place on Thursday afternoon, the 19th of September, at around 1:40, in close proximity to the Highland Street railroad crossing and the Highway 15 overpass.
Initial investigations suggest that the victim ventured onto the tracks while attempting to take a shortcut.
New Albany Law enforcement officials have indicated that no foul play is suspected in this incident.
